A really long over due post
By: Mike | June 30th, 2008Well first and foremost I must say that Im sorry that I have not posted in eons. This was do to college, track, social life, finals and work. Plus me getting an xbox 360 did not help matters at all.
Now on to the team. We finished third in the league, so we gained that all important CL spot. That’s all you can really ask for. Well, you could have asked for us to get that second and auto group stage spot but ohh well. It’s better to be in the CL qualifying rounds than not in it at all.
Euro 2008:
Heiko Westermann, Kevin Kurányi(Germany), Ivan Rakitić(Croatia) were the sole representatives of Schalke at The Euro’s. I was not able to see Rakitic play at all due to work(that goes for all the games really). I did manage to catch a few Germany games on my days off/out of work early. I must say that I was not overly impressed with Kuranyi. This may be to do the fact that I was actually watching the game and not specific players. I only remember seeing him a few times in play build ups or shots. Other than those few times, I think we can chalk this up to “could have been better”. I apologize if I am wrong on this, but im trying to recall from memory, and am too lazy to scour through youtube/dailymotion clips. sue me
. Can’t pass judgment on Westermann assssssssss he did not play.
Transfer Season:
eh, nothing really major here. Granted I have not been following that closely due to work, friends and that damn 360. If something major happens I will deff make a new post.
A More Important Note:
Alright, I Figure I may as well throw this out in the open. If anyone of your three or four people reading this are interested in helping me out with the page, or even taking over captaincy from me, let me and/or someone from the main page know. I feel guilty that I do not update this as much as it should be done. If someone feels like they can do a better job and devote more time to it than I do, please do not hesitate to say something.
well, that’s all for now folks.

Yeah. It also does not help that Schalke is my second team, behind Roma.

Mike, don’t sweat it. There ain’t a lot in the news right now as the clubs open training camp and the transfer market heats up. Although it does look likely that Orlando Englaar of FC Twente is on his way to Schalke after a very good showing at the Euro.

Chris, it has happened. FC Twente have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Schalke. Engelaar reuniting with his former boss Fred Rutten.

Well, it´s not completely “no news” over here, a few things *are* happening. Farfan has made a good impression in the first trainings sessions. Engelaar´s transfer is said to be sealed (but there are some doubts. nothing official.). The old stadium “Parkstadion” is demolished. The boy who for years stood up with his megaphone and made the “Nordkurve” sing (well, kind of) got a two-year ban for all stadiums in Germany for something happening at the Dortmund-Derby earlier this year. And: tomorrow we´ll have the pro-team in their first test-match of the season - away at mighty Erkenschwick (well, the grandpas amongst you will remember Jule Ludorf and that painful defeat roughly sixty years ago…)
