die Königsblauen youth movement

By: Porter | January 5th, 2009

Winter training conditions are off and running for die Königsblauen with Levan Kobiashvili being excused as the Georgian international was excused due to illness and Zé Roberto. After generalized work Fred Rutten seemed generally pleased with overall conditioning, albeit the break was not long enough to have significant impact.

However the big news is the emergence of midfielder Danny Latza and Fred Rutten’s growing belief in the German U19/U23 international as well as what appears to be a renewed commitment to younger developing players. At nineteen years of age, he has shown all-around capabilities and easily fits into the managers tactical scheme. Along with fellow Schalke 04 II members Andreas Wiegel, Marvin Pachan and Predrag Stevanovic who will be given an opportunity with the big club, it appears that the Schalke is ready is going to focus a great deal of their efforts with emerging players. Not to be outdone, Schalke is considering Jan Morávek, who presently plays for Bohemians Praha of the Czech Republic. The U19 Czech is a major talent who the club will look to sign to a contract without haste.

Schalke has announced the release of Uruguayan international Gustavo Varela, whose career with the club was troubled with an extensive series of injuries.
