“our time together in Enschede”

By: Porter | November 20th, 2008

In one of those quotes easily taken out of context and used for a dumb headline (which I just did) Schalke manager Fred Rutten spoke of Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Hans Meyer, who he coached with FC Twente from 1996 to 1999.

“He’s a football animal. You could say he simply can’t kick the football habit. When I heard he was returning to the Bundesliga and had taken the job at Mönchengladbach I have to admit I was a bit surprised. But now I’m obviously looking forward to seeing him again. We learnt a lot from each other during our time together in Enschede. Hans is very good on the physical side of things and I took a lot from that. But I’m sure he’ll have taken on some of my methods as well.”

‘Gladbach is sitting fourteenth in the Bundesliga table with eleven points but coming off an affirming 2-2 draw to Bayern München and a 2-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld the week before.

Hello Porter and Schalke fans! I come in peace!

This is Johnny Baguette, journalist with Vital Manchester City, an independent City fan’s site and forum.

Are any of you available to answer our pre match fans questions this weekend as part of the big UEFA Cup build up?

We would be very happy to reciprocate!

    Good luck against Borussia tomorrow,

    JB
